Which renovation subsidies can you get in 2026?
Renovating with financial support
If you want to make your home more energy-efficient, you don't have to pay for everything yourself. Belgium's three regions each offer their own subsidy system for energy renovations. The amounts and conditions vary by region, but the principle is the same: those who invest in better insulation, more efficient heating or renewable energy get part of the costs back.
Flanders: MijnVerbouwPremie
The Flemish subsidy system bundles all renovation subsidies under one name. The main categories:
Roof insulation provides a base subsidy of €4 to €8 per m², depending on the type of insulation. For an average roof of 80 m², you can easily receive €500 to €650. Lower-income households receive an increased subsidy.
Wall insulation yields €15 to €35 per m², with higher amounts for external insulation. This is one of the most cost-effective investments, both in terms of subsidies and energy savings.
High-performance glazing is rewarded with €50 to €100 per m² of glass surface. The impact is particularly significant when replacing old single or double glazing.
Heat pumps receive a subsidy of €1,500 to €4,000, depending on the type. The air-to-water heat pump is the most popular model and also yields the highest subsidy.
Brussels: Renolution
The Brussels Region recently reformed its subsidy system under the name Renolution. Subsidies are generally slightly higher than in Flanders, but the application procedure is more complex.
For roof insulation, Brussels offers subsidies up to €50 per m². Wall insulation is rewarded with subsidies up to €70 per m². Heat pumps receive up to €4,500, and for solar panels you can count on €750 to €1,500.
An important advantage in Brussels is the income-dependent subsidy: the lower your income, the higher the support.
Wallonia: Primes Habitation
Wallonia uses a points system based on the energy audit. The more your home improves after renovation, the higher the subsidy. The audit determines your starting position and savings potential.
Base subsidies are slightly lower than in other regions, but the bonuses for combining multiple works more than compensate. A complete renovation in Wallonia can cover up to 70% of costs for lower-income households.
Tips to maximise your subsidies
Combine works where possible. Those who carry out roof insulation, wall insulation and new windows in a single project often receive a bonus on top of the individual subsidies.
Always request a quote before submitting your subsidy application. For some subsidies, you must apply before the works begin.
Have an energy audit carried out. Not just for Wallonia — in Flanders too, it gives you a clear picture of the most cost-effective investments.
